The most exhilarating yet challenging aspect of wedding planning is the bridal shopping experience. With numerous functions to prepare for, countless looks to coordinate, and a multitude of accessories to purchase, it can feel like an endless task. However, with thorough research and careful planning, this process can be made somewhat more manageable. In this post, I will explore some of Mumbai's finest markets that are ideal for your bridal shopping needs.

Mumbai has some of India's top bridal markets. Although there is ongoing debate about whether Delhi's market is superior, in my opinion, both are equally excellent. Personally, I have had the opportunity to experience both markets extensively. For my sister's wedding, we completed all our shopping in Delhi, while for my own wedding, we did all the shopping in Mumbai. Hence, I can confidently say that you can expect similar varieties, price ranges, and diverse designs in both these markets. Ultimately, the key factors that will make a difference are your outfit planning and how well you

carry them.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding in both Bengali and non-Bengali styles. This meant that we had to go through the process of double shopping and double preparations. (tiring, huh!)

For the Bengali functions, I adorned a stunning banarasi saree in mustard and pink hues, complemented by exquisite gold jewelry. For the non-Bengali ceremonies, I chose a captivating red lehenga paired with elegant metallic jewelry, creating a distinct and beautiful look.

The markets of mumbai can be divided into various categories depending on the price range available.

1. Santacruz

Santa Cruz is a treasure trove for brides-to-be, offering an extensive array of lehengas, jewelry, accessories, tailors, and more. One of the remarkable aspects of this market is the perfect balance it maintains in terms of pricing. You can find options ranging from 25,000 to 4 lakhs, catering to various budget preferences. It has become a dream shopping destination for many brides due to its wide selection and affordability.

Among the many designer bridal studios in Santa Cruz, Roopkala stands out as a renowned and popular shop. It is here that I found my perfect wedding lehenga. Priced at around 40,000, my lehenga fulfilled my vision of a classic red ensemble complemented by a red and pink dupatta. Roopkala offers a diverse range of options, making it easier to find the exact design and style you desire.

While Santa Cruz houses excellent jewelry shops, it's worth noting that they may lean toward the higher end in terms of cost. If you have the luxury of time, I would recommend exploring Bhuleshwar and Xaveri for your bridal jewelry needs. These areas are known for their wide range of options and relatively more affordable prices, ensuring that you find stunning pieces without breaking the bank. In addition to lehengas and jewelry, Santa Cruz also boasts a variety of tailors and lace shops. These establishments are ideal for adding those perfect finishing touches to your outfits. One such shop that I personally visited is Hi Touch, which offers an impressive selection of laces and latkans (decorative tassels). They have a wonderful variety to choose from, allowing you to personalize your garments and enhance their overall appeal.

Overall, Santa Cruz provides a one-stop destination for brides-to-be, offering a harmonious blend of affordability, quality, and variety in terms of bridal attire, jewelry, accessories, tailoring, and lace embellishments.

2. Bhuleshwar and Zaveri Bazar

Bhuleshwar and Zaveri Bazaar are renowned markets that hold a special place when it comes to bridal jewellery shopping. Zaveri Bazaar, in particular, offers a wide range of wholesale options, making it a go-to destination for those seeking bulk purchases. However, you can also find regular shops in the area, providing more choices for different preferences. Both Bhuleshwar and Zaveri markets are interconnected, forming a vibrant hub of jewellery shopping.

While the primary focus of these markets is on jewellery, it's worth mentioning that they also house clothing stores and accessory shops. This makes it convenient for brides-to-be to explore and find other essentials along with their jewellery needs. The variety available in these markets ensures that you can discover pieces that perfectly match your preferences and style. Personally, I purchased my wedding jewelry from Bhuleshwar, where I found a stunning selection of pieces to choose from. I specifically bought my maangtika from Zaveri Bazaar, which is known for its wide range of options and designs. These markets cater to various styles, ranging from elegant and delicate to more elaborate and grand pieces, ensuring that there's something for every bride's taste. When shopping in these markets, it's important to remember that bargaining is a common practice. Negotiating the price can help you secure a better deal and make the most of your budget. So, be sure to sharpen your bargaining skills and confidently engage with the vendors to get the best value for your money.

In summary, Bhuleshwar and Zaveri Bazaar are iconic markets that offer a wide variety of bridal jewelry options. Alongside their jewelry offerings, you can also explore clothing stores and accessories within these markets. Whether you're looking for elegant or elaborate pieces, these markets have something to cater to your specific needs. Just remember to embrace the art of bargaining while indulging in the enchanting world of jewelry shopping in these bustling markets.

3. Mangaldas Market

Nearby Bhuleshwar, there's a great place to shop for sarees, salwar suits, and dupattas. It offers a wide range of options to enhance your ethnic wear collection.

Whether you're looking for sarees in various fabrics and designs or stylish salwar suits, this place has it all. You can also find a variety of beautiful dupattas to complete your outfit. It's a convenient shopping destination for all your traditional wear needs.

4. Dadar West

Dadar, a bustling market, is renowned for its budget-friendly shopping options. It is a go-to destination for those seeking affordable purchases without compromising on style. Here, you can find a wide range of lehengas starting as low as 3000 rupees, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious shoppers.

Moreover, Dadar is an excellent place to explore outfits for side functions such as mehendi and haldi ceremonies. The market offers a diverse selection of sarees, lehengas, suits, and co-ord sets, ensuring that you find the perfect attire for every occasion. The best part is that these items are available at very reasonable prices, making it a preferred shopping spot for many.

When it comes to famous shops in Dadar, some notable ones include Dadar Emporium, Suvidha Fashion, Paneeri, Pramanik, and Roop Sangam. These establishments have gained popularity for offering quality clothing at affordable rates. However, it's worth noting that there are numerous other shops in Dadar where you can discover hidden gems and find exceptional outfits at steal prices.

I bought a simple yellow saree for my haldi and a pretty green lehenga for my mehendi.

5. Natraj Market, Malad

Natraj Market, Malad is a renowned shopping destination that offers a variety of affordable clothing and accessories. Apart from housing shops specialising in bridal lehengas, sarees, suits, and traditional jewellery, the market stands out for its extensive collection of realistic artificial floral jewellery, perfect for occasions like haldi and mehendi. What made the experience even better was the option to personalise the jewellery according to my preferences. I personally purchased my haldi floral jewellery from Natraj Market, and I was delighted with the outcome.

Furthermore, Natraj Market boasts an impressive selection of other artificial jewellery items. It was here that I found my ideal mehendi jewellery as well. The market truly offers a wide range of options for anyone seeking attractive and affordable accessories.

6. Irla Market, Manish Market and Lokhandwala market

These three markets offer a diverse selection of both traditional and western clothing, along with a wide range of accessories. Whether you are seeking attire for your wedding or outfits for your post-wedding honeymoon, these markets can be of great assistance. Not only do they cater to clothing and accessories, but they also provide excellent options for footwear.

Additionally, you'll find a few shops that offer unique and quirky mobile covers. All of this can be enjoyed while indulging in delicious street food.

Above all, always remember that happy brides are the prettiest! <3
